The Dysons are down-to-earth people who call the living, rolling countryside of Indiana “home.”
They are farmers, plunging hands into soil, cultivating life from the fertile ground…
Teachers, inspiring change and nurturing hopes in students’ eager faces…
Millwrights and metalworkers, using inner fire to transform what is into what could be…
And spray foamers, forging ahead like a rushing river, patiently and persistently carving a new path forward.
The Dysons are individuals with unique talents and dreams.
And together, the Dysons use what they have to create a bright future of growth and change…

Without ever abandoning their roots.
Roots in integrity and community…

And faith and trust.
It is from this family – and the meeting of two Dyson business ventures – that Central Urethane was born.
Central Urethane - The Joining of Two Dyson Family Ventures
Central Urethane is the joining of two dreams, the meeting of two Dyson family ventures:
A metalworking and millwright company…
And a spray foam contracting business!
Mike Dyson started his spray foam contracting business in 2001 to support his growing family…
And in 2004, Mike’s dad, Jeff Dyson, and three of Jeff’s siblings – John, Janet, and Chris – founded Wabash Industrial Services, a millwright and metal fabrication company.
Time passed, as it always does, and both companies found success!
Mike’s spray foam business thrived, and he sprayed foam for many years, mastering his trade and forging his own path through life.
Wabash Industrial Services also grew rapidly – the Dysons’ skill and attention to detail were well-recognized by the manufacturing community…
And in 2008, Wabash Industrial Services needed a bigger place to house all of its equipment.
So they acquired a gigantic warehouse – once used for producing rock wool – to house the machines and tools for their millwright and metal fabrication work.
But it houses more than that.
This cavernous building became a place of belonging and industry for the Dyson family and their friends…
A place where dreams could flourish, and the Dyson family’s can-do attitude could help bring those dreams into reality…
A place where one’s inner fire can shine.
Central Urethane's Inner Fire
Both a millwright’s and a spray foamer’s work require a deep, visceral connection to the inner workings of machinery and materials.
This type of understanding is part of the backbone of the Dyson family – and of Central Urethane.
Mike Dyson – Central Urethane’s spray foam head-honcho – grew up with millwrights and metalworkers…
And that sort of upbringing truly shapes a person.
Millwright work and metalworking take grit…
They take fire.
Fire of the spirit and of the forge…
Sparks of the welder…
And the force of great steel presses.
A millwright’s job – a metalworker’s job – is to feel…
To reach out and connect with the life – the whirring breath – of machines…
To sense – to truly understand – a machine’s inner workings…
And to attend to any ailments that arise.
A millwright braves sweat, grease, and grime to truly tune in with the machines they tune up…
Creates parts from the forge and the presses to fill recognized needs…
And ensures that all pieces and parts work together – as a whole – the way they were intended to.
That – that tuning in, that tending to inner fire – is what the Dysons do at Wabash Industrial Services…
It’s what Mike did in his spray foam contracting business…
And it is what three generations of Dysons – including Jeff, Mike, and Mike’s son, Ethan – now do at Central Urethane.
Central Urethane is Born
How the Dysons Started Blending Foam
In 2016, Mike increasingly had trouble finding a reliable source of spray foam to keep his spray foam contracting business up and running.
After weeks of struggle, he had an idea – the idea that changed everything:
What if he made his own foam?
What if Mike could create his own reliable source of spray foam to use in his contracting business?
He knew foam – as a millwright knows his machines – and space was available for the project in the Wabash Industrial Services warehouse!
The wheels in Mike’s head were turning…
So, he discussed his idea with Jeff and the rest of the Dysons at Wabash Industrial Services and began his search for a great new foam blend!
Mike studied and mixed and tested and measured.
He consulted and questioned and head-scratched.
Then – all at once – his hard work and planning for success paid off…
Mike’s foam blend expanded! It firmed up! It…worked!
In fact, it worked really well!
What would one day become Central Urethane’s signature foam blend was better than any foam he had sprayed before…
And he could make it for a lower cost to his business than any other foam.
Eureka!
How the Dysons Started Selling Foam
Mike Dyson – with the support of his family and friends – made that spray foam happen, cap’n!
He was now an out-and-out foam blender – but he had only planned to do this so he could reliably source affordable, high-quality foam for his spray foam contracting business…
Oh, how the future can surprise us!
Some of Mike’s spray foam contracting buddies got wind of what he had done and asked to spray his foam…
Because they couldn’t find a reliable supply either…
…and they loved it!
Mike’s new foam was so well-liked, in fact, that word quickly spread around the Indiana spray foam community…
…and beyond!
And – just like *that!* – the time came to expand his foam-making operation.
Seeing this new opportunity for what it was – the future! – Mike, Jeff, and many other Dysons joined together to follow the path of this foam-making adventure…
And a brand new, family-owned and operated spray foam manufacturing company was born:
Central Urethane!
